feeling funky

Guess I said no reaction too soon.... by bedtime I was feeling funky and had a temp of 100 plus. I took some acetaminophen and went to sleep.... and had lots and lots of dreams.

Still feeling a little off but no temp this morning...

After dinner... spent all day feeling funky with only a low grade temp.. I'm not worried  or anything. Hoping things will be better tomorrow

Covid #2 vaccine and beautiful day out!!

Bob and I headed out this morning so that I could receive my second Pfizer covid vaccine!!When we arrived the parking lot was jam packed and I thought "oh no, we'll be here forever"! But that was not the case ... everything was super well set up and I was vaccinated and sitting my allotted 15 minutes in nothing flat! All in all we were out the door in 20 minutes even with the 15 minute wait for a reaction time!!

So home we went with blue skies above us!!

Later.... no reaction so far! I think dinner on the deck sounds possible since the temperature is over 70 F.  Though it is windy and we will have to hold onto things!

Scout's visit... doggie day care

This is not a new picture of Scout... she  is probably at least twice the size now! But I didn't get a chance to take a picture this afternoon.

My daughter had a meeting at Panera's this afternoon. That is on her way home from work but Scout ( who spends her days in the office with our daughter and ALL the co-workers) could not "attend". So we went and got her... the switch took place in Panera's parking lot.... and took her home

The cats took one look and hid!! Tigger, the orange one, fluffed himself to twice his size.

Scout loved our backyard and managed the flight of stairs down well... and then up too!  Lots of sniffing. Lots of stick chewing ( she's teething). Lots of running!! Did her business too!

We didn't have any snacks for her but the cat treats were fine! She discovered the cats' bowls and even though we had put them up high, Scout managed to find little bits of cat food to eat!!

I think we tired her out... she was ready for a nap when our daughter came to pick her up!

trip out.... greeted by rain

I decided to head out this morning to our local  Wallyworld ( Wal-Mart) for some things I can't find elsewhere. As I pulled into the parking lot it started to pour...Luckily I had an umbrella with me.  When I headed out to go home... no rain and sunny skies!

Our Wal-Mart now has two regular check-out stands ( with lots of people on line!!) and million of "scan and go" ones. People and lines are not my thing so checked myself out!

afternoon... raining again... just finished a book on my Kindle and for some reason it feels like a Saturday not Tuesday.. With the ways things are... the days get mixed up.

We are trying a new recipe this evening...roasted Brussell sprouts with aoli dipping sauce. I love Brussells and Bob is ok with them... but a new way will be interesting.... hopefully.

First Day of Spring

It's the first day of spring!! Hooray!!

The grass is greening... the lilacs are budding!  The sky is a wondrous shade of blue without any clouds!

My daffodil is in bloom!!

A week from Monday I will receive my second  Pfizer covid vaccination... Bob will receive his second Moderna vaccination on the 8th... We are both looking forward to that and after two weeks or so we should be totally immunized!!

I'd love to "get out" and we will... but by ourselves and still being cautious.  By May we ought to be able to take day trips shouldn't we??

No snow

There were all sorts of weather warnings yesterday... two inches of snow by the time we got up this morning. Didn't happen!! Not that two inches is terrible but we have had days of "off and on" rain  with puddles etc all over. So snow would have probably meant ice underneath!!

So no snow is great.... my younger daughter ( the teacher) is due at one of her distict's buildings for her first covid vaccine this afternoon. Probably will be a very busy site since every adult  in the district can receive the vaccination..... everyone from bus drivers, security, lunch ladies to teachers  on up!!

Way back when my daughter gave me a potted daffodil... I planted it when the bloom faded... and watch every year for it to arrive. The greenery parts ( the one has multiplied to many) are about 6 inches tall now. No buds yet!! I think this is the year to dig them up and divide the bulbs...

Gray days plus a missing hour

We have had several days of gray gray skies... occasional rain and wind. Not very pleasant.  The grass is turning greener... daffodils are growing but not blooming yet... my lilacs are budding. So all in all, Spring must be heading our way.

Bob and I both have had vaccine #1... mine was the Pfizer one. His was the Moderna one.  No bad symptoms for either of us.   We were given dates for shot #2 !!

This morning we lost an hour ... not really other than the clocks said so!!  Bob went around and adjusted everything that didn't do by itself!!

I am working my way through things in the freezer. Sometimes is is very surprising what I find!! Today I turned some "older" chicken into chicken soup.  I remember having chicken soup... made by my Mother... when chickens were past laying.  My step-father would kill, pluck and remove "things".  She also made chicken and dumplings with these birds.

Each spring 25 or so little yellow fluffball chicks would arrive and be housed in the little half-bath off my bedroom. There they would stay till it was warm enough and they were big enough to go outside. They could really make quite a racket...

another #1

Bob and I headed out again this morning so that he could receive his first covid #1 vaccine.... Although he received the Moderna shot and I received the Pfizer vaccine we received it in the same place.... and were again so impressed with the the set up. There were lots of lines.. lots of vaccination booths... lots of staff running things and a large waiting area afterwards to make sure that one did not have a negative reaction. In and out in a half hour ( mine was a little longer since my waiting time was longer due to my allergy to the flu shot).

BTW ...they are expecting to vaccinate about 1,000 people per day at this site!!

Our lovely 70's temperatures came to a thudding halt last night with pouring rain , wind and lightening....violent enough to warrant a weather alert on our phones. Today it is in the 50's...

Just a reminder that this weekend is Daylight Savings Weekend... turn  your clocks forward!!

one shot down... one to go!

Had my  first Covid vaccine this morning..... waited the full 30 minutes to make sure I wouldn't have a reaction like I did to the flu shot!!

#2 will be the 29th.

Bob still waiting to get his appointment...    Got scheduled for Thursday!!

I have a covid appontment

This afternoon  I found an email  from the Jackson County Health Dept on my computer.... when I opened it I found loads of questions to answer about my age, health, race and so on. I filled it out and choose when I would like to have the vaccine administered... and then found a new email telling me where and when!! Hooray.... but Bob hasn't heard...

So Monday off I go. It looks like I will receive the Pfizer one.   I will take my Epi pen along... just in case.

Trip downtown into Kansas City

Now that my hair ( post lockdown beginning) is longer than ever a trip to visit Mark, my stylist, only occurs every 8 weeks. My appointment was this morning. So off I went to Mark's salon ... via the I70 interstate and then through the Plaza area of Kansas City.

Traffic started a slowdown about 15 minutes from home. I said "oh no" to myself... then police cars, a fire engine, an ambulance and a tow truck made their way through the stopped traffic.  When we ( the cars) finally made our way to where everything was happening we could see two wrecked cars, a wrecked highway worker truck and all the stuff that had passed us earlier..

As we all passed the accident we all sped up and headed onto our separate destinations!!

Made it to Mark's a minute early when all of a sudden sirens started wailing... my phone went off with tornado warnings. Yes it is the beginning of March and the tornado sirens are tested on the first Wednesday of the month... but this is Tuesday !

Dashed into the salon... to find out than no one knew what was going on.. We all then found out it was a huge statewide tornado alert!! No tornado was heading our way!!

Then I relaxed and Mark started his "magic"... wash and cut and style. Plus we played catch-up on our lives. Neither of us has had the vaccine... both of us wore masks... Will see him again in late April. In between he will be going up to Idaho to ski with friends ( will he be in  cast next time? ) and a long delayed visit to his parents for Easter.

Trip home was completely uneventful !
