end of January

January is coming to an end. Yesterday it was almost 60 degrees out... today below 20. But the really bad stuff is missing us. The birds are happy that I put out more seed... Blue Jays, Juncoes, sparrows, a flicker and more.

Bob is slowly improving... good days are followed by slower days but he is eating well and watching himself!

I have another x-ray/sonogram to check on the fluid this Wednesday.. Then an office visit with the pulmonary doctor...who will hopefully decide what to do next.

Bob and I kept ourselves busy.. I went grocery shopping this morning and Bob did laundry... sheets, towels, clothes - the works. Though I did help him put his down comforter back in it duvet cover! Easier said then done.

The grocery store was a sight to see... the ratio of men to women was more than 3 to 1. Must be the Chiefs championship football game today that had the men out for snacks and drinks and tailgating supplies!! I saw tickets for sale on Facebook - they ranged from $450 to $800 EACH!! Plus $75 for parking.

Up and down

Bob had a great day yesterday... full of the old vim and vigor which made me feel really positive... but today we are back to the not so hot and tired day. He's trying ... and making sure he eats and drinks lots of fluids.  Guess ups and downs are to be expected...

After a follow up appointment with my cardiologist's physicians assistant I took her advice and got on the phone to push my pulmonary doctor's  nurse into finding out why  I hadn't been scheduled for another fluid removal procedure...waited  3 hours for a return call. Waited another  5 hours today for her to find out. Turns out "they" want another x-ray and/or sonogram first. That's scheduled for next week...  big sigh...

We woke up this morning to about 1.5 inches of snow... Almost all of the local school districts went to online classes. My "gifted program" teacher daughter quickly set up a zoom program for her class. Evidently it went really well... she ran out of time!  Her students had homework to do before their next class. This kind of snow day means the state won't add on a day at the end of the year and attendance is taken for the state too!

BTW... most of snow is gone though though there may be more tonight...

still working on improvement

Bob is still working away at improving...eating more. Finally food is getting interesting/appealing.Still napping on the recliner though how he can sleep though his  own snoring. Even the cats look at him when he snores!!

Weather is still wintry..some rain... dustings of snow... but that about it.

Dominic and his family went to the annual Marching Band banquet where Dominic received patches, medals and so on. He also received a photo taken of the band when in Hawaii at the USS Missouri which his Mother will frame for his bedroom.

No more marching band till next July ... just regular band and jazz band.

Looks like I have more fluid in my lungs...It will have to be removed ( again)...

improvement... daily!!

Bob is improving every day... little by little. Eating more... drinking more. Today he decided to do a small batch of laundry. I took my basket of dirty laundry down to the basement where the washing machine and dryer are.. and he brought his.

We just finished folding and putting away the clean clothes!!

I also emptied the kitty litter boxes...mopped the kitchen floor, the lobby floor and a bathroom....

It's been a busy day!!  Bob only needed one nap!!

slower recovery

This time Bob's recovery from his stent procedure ( three stents placed this time) is slower than last time...Everything has to be done slower and his heart rate goes up !

At  least he is eating sooner... today we decided to "hit" the fish and chips food truck that comes Blue Springs quite often. It's parked in Orscheln's lot and you go up to the window and order and pay... credit or debit card only. Then you wait ...at least I did ( in the cold) while Bob waited in the car till they call your name. A man standing next to me said the fish was good and that he used to work for Arthur Treacher's Fish  so he said he would know! They cook your order while you wait!!

It was good... Tigger ( the orange cat) thought it was "to die for" !! I gave him some of mine !!

I was glad to see Bob ate all of his!

Scary day

Bob went into the hospital for another stent... they did three... but that was not the scary part. Evidently he has the flu as well and while  he was doing the after surgery bit he started shaking with chills and fever!! All sorts of nurses coped...they did a sonogram to make sure the stents were fine...blood work... doctors came...lots of fluids...relaxers and so on!

When his blood pressure and heart rate was "good"  I was sent home ( I had watched all of this from a nearby chair) and finally they sent Bob to the ICU.

He was not in the mood for company this morning... he just wanted to sleep... so I left him to it and went home. This afternoon he texted saying he was getting dressed and being discharged. Off I went and brought him home where we both napped in our recliners.

getting closer to stent #2

Bob is getting closer and closer to stent #2 ... he will go into the hospital Tuesday morning ..have the second stent put in and stay over night to keep an eye on things.

He is doing better... is eating ( finally). We actually ordered a dinner pick up from Panera for this evening. But still napping a lot.

He has walked around our cul-de-sac several times without coming home exhausted.

Part of our dinner from Panera included a chicken salad sandwich... marvelous... Both cats knew there was chicken in it and would not stay off the dining room table. But it was so good that no bits were offered to them!!  The soups were also good as were the rolls... but neither tempted either cat!!

The cats got their regular dinner when we were done!!
