Blog

I am having trouble posting ... Here's hoping I'll be successful today.

It's been another hot day so other than getting ready for the quilting/craft group tonight we haven't done much of anything.

The quilting/craft group get together went well...Lots of talking ,,, working on projects ... and munching on all kinds of food items!!

Bob and I will check out the temps tomorrow morning and if things aren't too hot we will head out to the Brass Armadillo . We need some "steps" !

another errand go around

We headed out again...starting this time with returning a library book. Then we stopped at one of the "Mater Man" booths for tomatoes. peaches and a small watermelon.  Then Bob and I "split up" . he went next door to CVS for his prescriptions while I went into our Neighborhood Walmart with a shopping list. By the time Bob was waiting for me and I had finished my list I was really feeling sick...it was hot and I was really thirsty.

But with Bob's loading and unloading the car everything was put away and I crashed in the recliner with something to drink!!

The craft/quilting group meets tomorrow so after recuperating it was time to get the dining room ready and the kitchen floor mopped...the cats do leave all sorts of stuff  around!!

Speaking of stuff left around I have to put my work stuff away too!

Bob has already put his ham fest purchases away ... he is really pleased  with them. After some work he will probably put some up for sale...

hamfest

Bob and I left at 7 am for the hamfest in Warrensburg. It was a nice trip until the tire pressure sensor  went off....Not  much Bob could do about it since Mo 50 is so rural. ( after we arrived he did check the tires..nothing he could see.)

We found the  county fairgrounds which is the usual site and unloaded everything after finding our table.

Early birds started arriving  "early"  ...even before Bob had unloaded his boxes! It was a good day. Bob enjoyed talking to the "vintage" lookers. Those are the ones interested in his vintage stuff. He told enough and another old ham talked him into buying his old stuff.... think Bob broke even!!

I worked on my stuff.. a few wives were interested enough to ask... guess they had been following ham husbands around enough!!

The tire sensor thingy still making itself know but our trip back was uneventful. The car has been unloaded and we are back to normal.

Bob will check into the car's problem... hopefully an easy thing and no expensive trip to the dealer!!

Bob did get invited to an even bigger ham fest this fall in Sedalia  ... two days..Sedalia is about another half hour east... home of the Missouri State Fairgrounds.

Another one of those round trips...

We headed out this morning for another round trip... starting with a sonogram at my doctor's office. Boy was it a quickie... results early next week. Then off to the bank. Bob needed cash for his ham fest sales. Then to Price Chopper - drinks etc for the icebox.... then to QT to fill the car's tank.

The hamfest is held annually in Warrensburg which is is about an hours drive south and east...We are leaving early so we can set up Bob's sales table.... and NOT taking I-70!  Looking forward to the MO 50 route. It's rural and scenic!

I've prepped some things to work on while I keep Bob company .

BTW Jack's pain shot seems to be working... he was quiet and comfortable today!!

Birthday trip to Weston

Lilith and Spencer enjoyed her birthday trip to Weston!! Lots of art galleries...the silk museum ... but his choice of hotel had it's drawbacks.  It had haunted rooms of which theirs was  one! Lilith kept waking Spencer up every time she "heard" something!! But they are going to go back... day trip next time.

Jack seems more comfortable... his shot is a new one for cats with arthritis. It's expensive but no side effects. If it continues to keep him comfortable... next one in a month.

Jack...the gray striped cat

Jack has been having a difficult time. He is 20 plus years old and getting OLD...with all the symptoms involved. Anyway this past weekend was a bad one for him... accidents all over, both solid and liquid and not in one of the usual many litter boxes. Lots of yowling...problems of all types.

So Bob called the vet early yesterday morning and took him for a life wellness assessment. In the vet's office he pooped and was very unhappy. The vet said maybe he was in a lot of pain and suggested a monthly pain shot ( $100 plus)..administered much to Jack's anger and unhappiness...  He and the crate were being carried out to the car by the vet when he promptly peed all over.. vet...floor..and so on! Bob said at least 8 ounces!

Bob arrived home with a very angry cat who fought with everybody and Tigger (the orange cat) received the worst. ( Tigger himself got quite upset with all of this and vomited all over)

This morning he seems a little better... hungry..quiet and no accidents so far.  Bob will set up another wellness check in 3 weeks and if the pain shot is helping, another one.

Late tonight Jack started wandering around and wasn't happy anywhere even next to Bob in the recliner. Bob tried taking Jack to a litter box..no deal.  Bob says we'll just have to watch him...

Crazy night....

I went to bed earlier than Bob and woke up an hour of so later thinking I heard tornado sirens! Totally unexpected. Called out to Bob... no answer. Got my bathrobe and prepared to go down to the basement... our tornado place......the siren sounds continued..

I found Bob rug cleaning in the dining room ...not sirens going off.  I was upset... tornado warnings are not to be taken lightly ...

This morning we went off to the farmer's market ...downtown Blue Springs. We came home with all sorts of things from jam, bakery items, veggies and fruit! When home it was unload everything and munch on a delicious cake-like item soaked in honey and sprinkled with sea salt!!

The sourdough bread and TOMATOES (RIPE!) and Swiss cheese and MAYO made great sandwiches

out again...

Even though the temperature was almost 90 we headed out for LUNCH ... Ophelia's on the Independence Square was our destination!!We sat at a booth with a window and watched people stroll by. Lots came in !!

Before heading back to our car Bob saw a sign (store) for chocolates and cookies and we headed there for dessert! I picked a St Louis favorite... ooey gooey butter one.

Then we headed to World Market to look at its new Asian area for Lili's birthday !! We had no idea what some things were and are hoping Lili ( our grand daughter) will have fun trying them!!

Lili's husband is taking her to a B&B in Weston ( a smallish town north ok KC on the Missouri River ) for her birthday. They will tour the winery, distillery and shops!

Errands

We needed one of our round trip errand trips this morning...So instead of hunkering down with in-house tasks we headed out....

Library to return books and get new ones ( had to pay  a  25cent fine)... Off to the car wash to get rid of the dirt  and bird poop.... Then Target for an order of cat food and Twining Irish Tea... and to Target's CVS for my pill pick up!!

It's still hot though not as hot ! Read in the KC Star newspaper this morning about the hottest KC summer on record  - 53 days of over 100 in 1936!! The highest temp was 113 degrees!!  Very little A/C then!! We haven't had any over 100 this year... so far.

So when back home Bob went on the computer and I finished up my newest bear... just have to accessorize him.

This evening we had fireflies on the front lawn.....

Quiet tonight??

We have had a week of fireworks... just noisy ones by day and noisy and beautiful at night. Last night there very loud ones that sounded like they had been set off in a metal trash can!

The cats were ok until last night when Tigger ( orange one) decided the noise was too much. My daughters have had to drug their dogs!

The heat has us stuck at home most of the time... with just "important" errands coaxing us out!!

Today everyone is coming to celebrate our youngest daughter's birthday. Her birthday (July 3) often gives her extra days off.. this year it's a three day weekend! Lots of celebrating!

Next week is our grand daughter's  birthday....!

peaches....

Bob stopped at one of the "Mater Man" veggie stands the other day. He cam home with the most luscious peaches and tomatoes!

We've been having sliced peaches with Cool Whip.... no, no shortcake... no biscuits... just peaches and Cool Whip!!

Picking up more tomorrow!!

Medicare annual exam...

Yesterday Bob and I headed off to my primary care physician for an annual Medicare exam... pages and pages of questions to fill out before my doctor came into the room.

I took Bob along because his doctor is about to retire and I wanted him to take a look at mine so he could switch... btw my daughter  and grand daughter both see my doctor and like her.

The exam went well...blood tests were fine except my white cell count in higher than last time... she will check it again in a month.

We stopped at Kohl's on the way home ... and were glad to actually get home. The weather is hot and humid  and VERY unpleasant.

I had quilting/craft group ..last night. Lots of talking  .. good snacks and so on. Though the walkways to the building were being watered when we left and I got soaked!
