"Hootercogs"

I doubt whether anyone has ever heard of these. The recipe came from my Mother-in-law and the name. A hootercog is a corn fritter for anyone else!

My daughter sent me home with leftover corn on the cob after our family dinner on the Fourth. True hootercogs  use only leftover cooked corn cut from the cob ... no canned corn... no frozen corn either!!

They are deep fat fried ( dropped by spoonfuls) and served with real maple syrup.

So we are looking forward to hootercogs for dinner tonight!!

I have no idea where the name "hootercogs" came from. My Mother-in-law's family came from the NYS Finger Lakes area all the way back to post Revolutionary War!!
