sunny and windy but cold

Today has been sunny and windy.... but cold!!  I can actually see grass out the window and most of the snow is gone.
The squirrels are taking full advantage and are running all around the backyards! Probably trying to find the acorns they buried last fall!!  Yes... one is digging away !

Yesterday Bob and our elder daughter met at Bass Pro Shop with Harper ( her 9 month old part bloodhound pup) for a training session. Harper is easily distracted so the dog trainer recommended going to Bass Pro Shop to learn how not to be distracted when there are loads of people. Bob and Laurel and Harper sat in the lobby by a fireplace for over an hour.... lots of people... lots of compliments. Then they walked around the building... guess it was a successful outing...

That was yesterday (Sunday) ... today is still sunny but even colder. Where the melting snow left puddles is now ice and treacherous!

Harper has training tonight... Bob is going with Laurel.
Here's Harper in her training get-up.  Laurel and Harper stopped by afterwards .. much to the dismay of the two cats Tigger and Jack. Harper would have loved to play with them ( the shelter she was adopted from said she was fine with cats) but the cats have never even seen a dog before so they watched Harper from afar!!

green eyes of jealousy

When I read others' blogs of snow drops...daffodils  etc I get very jealous ! I sit at my computer overlooking everyone's backyards and see nothing but snow and mostly leafless trees.
Today I woke to rain... not enough to get rid of the snow but enough to clear off the driveways and street. Part of this week will be warmer than last and wet... and then back to winter weather....maybe even snow ( again).

My lasered eye is pretty clear but the lasering left me with floaters. Sometimes it seems like little flittery bugs are flying in front of me. Hopefully they will settle somewhere where they won't make me want to swat them with a flyswatter!!  LOL
Next Wednesday will be eye #2.

Aside from this I can see well enough to sew or knit or needle felt again... so I should stop complaining!  Right??

I have been needle felting Easter eggs... wool roving over Styrofoam eggs. The Styrofoam makes the eggs lighter and I don't have to use up so much wool roving. I needle felt a solid cover over the egg and then add designs.  Fun!

Blurry blurry blurry

I had an 8 am appointment this morning for laser sugery on my right eye.  Evidently the bag supporting my new lens has gotten cloudy. So one today, the second next week.

Worried that our to be "huge" snowfall would make it trecherous to drive to the appointment - which was 1/2 hr away by Interstate.

The drive was fine... the surgery uneventful but everything is blurry. I have to practically put my nose to the computer monitor to read it.

I should tell myself to quit "b**ch**g ... it is getting better and I only have one floater.  The floater seems like a fly flitting around my visual field... sigh...

Being "old" is no picnic... another sigh!

Our big snowfall ( heavy wet snow about 4 inches deep)  is melting since the temp is up to mid thirties... Bob got  the driveway cleared..

Yesterday's snow... more to come??

Here's yesterday's snow and the plow cleaning our circle (cul de sac) this morning.  Bob was out shoveling ,but out of sight . until his ancient boots bit the dust !
The weather report says more snow tonight....

I'm glad I stocked up at the grocery store last week !!

Looks like I will be spending time sewing bears and bear friends... or maybe I should knit??

Snow... no school ... and whatever

Yesterday all the weather people started moaning and groaning that another snow storm was due to arrive Friday morning ( today).  Checked the school closings before I went to bed and found the grandkids school was closed but not my daughter's...
Early this morning things were fine ... went out for the papers and made coffee.  But it has started snowing. A friend on Facebook who made a grocery store run said is was slippery than s**t.  My daughter's school district is still open.
We have about 1/2 inch so far ( whee).
Tigger must have some inner cat knowledge about the weather because he has spent every minute on my chest while I am in the recliner.... and really really likes it when I cover him with Robb's afghan blanket.

I'll take pictures later...

Dinner out and today's tasks

Our anniversary dinner out was a winner from the start. We found the restaurant... a parking spot and I didn't fall on the ice! And that was just the start. Blue Stem has a multiple course set dinner. We chose three : appetizer/salad, entree and dessert. Bob and I chose different things so we go to try each other's. We chose a salad, parsnip and green apple soup, beef and scallops, roasted bananas with a coffee shell, and orange and passion fruit with ice cream. Little tempting goodies came too and the French press coffee was great!!
Nice way to celebrate our 53rd!!

Today is warm but the forecast doesn't sound very good. More snow Friday and COLD COLD all next week . So I went off to the grocery store to restock. That's not Bob's favorite chore so he stayed home and did laundry ! Nice freshly made bed and folded clothes when I returned!!

Back out again this afternoon after receiving a phone call from the pharmacy saying my shingles vaccination had arrived. $47 co-pay and a second shot  and second co-pay in 3 to 6 months. I remember having chicken pox and that my grandmother caught it from me and was really really ill. So I decided a shingles vaccination was the right thing to do... as did my doctor.

Our driveway's ice has thawed... bet it will be frozen again by Friday!
