Yesterday started with a call from our elder daughter... Harper the coon dog - black and tan- dhad managed to get out of the fenced back yard. We think the mower guy hadn't latched the gate enough, My daughter had seen Harper as she drove around but had nit been able to catch her.
Bob went out to help... still no luck. Our daughter had called animal control.. no luck there - but they would be looking to.
Hours went by before animal control called.. three officers had managed to catch her!! Harper was a long way from home. Somehow she had gotten cut.. one quite seriously. So off to the vet for a first available opening . The most serious was very close to Harper's femoral artery which the vet said could have been fatal.
Harper was stitched up and needed an overnight stay!
We spent time later on ,on our daughter's deck with dog #2 (Scout) discussing what to do. Harper had dug her way under the fence and pushed hard enough on some fence boards to break through and now the gate.
We put up a temporary fix... the gate can't open ...Bob and our daughter will add some other fixes this weekend.
Then off to Moo Choo's ( Oak Grove) for dinner and just plain relieved talking.
Here's Harper with her cone of shame... she spent the day at our daughter's office. She needs to wear the cone for 2 weeks!!.

She's so cute. Rotten adventure she went on. Hope she gets better quickly and human nerves calmer. Whew! Linda in Kansas
I'll bet they were worried to death while she was gone.
