too much mohair?

Too much mohair... never! But I've got to stay away from "bear making supplies" on eBay. I just bid on two gorgeous pieces that I don't really need, but do want!
I've been working on an order... all needle felted and am close to getting it done! Hooray! I've also been sorting through my stash and trying to "use up" the small pieces. I think that I'll be making a few fuzzball bears. Its fun looking a remnants and deciding what could be done with it.
There's a week and a half till the St. Louis Show and four of my bears have left for new homes just this week... two to Australia, one to Kansas and one to N.Dakota. That's fantastic, but that leaves a hole to be filled BEFORE (? !) the show.
So...NO MORE FIDDLING AROUND!

up on Etsy

I decided to put a few things up on etsy.com again.... I didn't sell much before Christmas there, but who knows, maybe I'll catch on this time. I've added a link, but just in case, my store name is
"GlassDragonBearsEtc". I do have things other than bears and friends in the shop and will be adding more in the next few days.

I've been designing some new patterns and hope to have new bears made before the St. Louis show in March!

writing an article

I have been working on a "Nip and Tuck" bear. I have never done a makeover where ,once I started, there was no return. When I cut the old muzzle off I was reminded of the first time I cut into a yard of mohair... a feeling of dread! But there was a part of the process that was fun. Since I was writing an article about the makeover, I had to stop to take pictures along the way. Pictures that showed the steps and a combined "before and after" shot.
I ended up with 14 photos and a two page article before the proofreader ( my husband) took a look. He tweaked it and eliminated two photographs ; then I checked it over again. When I was happy with it, we figured out how to turn the whole thing into a zip file. But the file just was too big and he divided into three files ... and away they went.
Now the waiting begins. I'm not going to post anything until the article is actually published! But I am really happy with my new/old bear!

My bear was picked!!

One of my bears ( Harley) was chosen for the "postcard" for Bright Star's Promotions St. Louis show!!! Isn't that great! Each person on the mailing list will receive one plus artists are given copies to mail to their customers!
I'm also going to put this scanned copy on the "Show coupon" page of my website . You can print it out and receive $1.00 at the St. Louis show in March

Before and After

Christmas is over and winter coming to an end ( hopefully). When we were in Florida I found that shipwrecks and pirates were all part of the area we were visiting. So I started accumulating "things": a replica gold coin, a pirate trunk and sea shells. The colored necklaces were a giveaway at a grocery store! When home, I made a few other accessories: leather jerkin, bandanna, coins and a knife (both from polymer resin). Bellamy decided he needed a name change too and has become Black Jack! Now I need to change things on Bearpile and my website !

Bellamy's makeover

No.. not a dye job, new haircut or any of the standard makeover things... but definitely a new look.
This is another Florida idea.... and I'll be posting his picture soon!

train show

We went to a model train show this morning... through lots of thunder and lightning! Of course Bob was hunting for actual things while I just browsed with bears in mind. I did pick up a few "bear accessories" and will be off to make a train engineer bear... If you are a train person or know someone who loves both trains and bears, keep looking here. I'll post a picture soon!

Here's Noah.... who just insisted on loosing his winter hat and scarf and becoming a "trainman". I put him on BearPile just a few moments ago.
