6,000 milestone!!!

I've been slowly creeping up on the big "6,000 milestone" .... today I hit it! This means I have made 6,000 bears and bear friends since I started keeping track back in the dark ages. My daughter, the one who is the Mother to my grandchildren, still has #1 which she brings out whenever she wants to embarrass me!


Here she is:
Sammie is 10 inches tall and made from two very different mohairs.

Bright Star Promotions' St. Louis Show

Valerie of "Bright Star Promotions" has chosen one of my bears for her post card ( I think) advertising the St. Louis show!! We'll be there! We're going a day early so we can join some of the others exploring St. Louis and St. Charles! And then we're all going to dinner... should make for a fun weekend!

What one can make from a scrap!

I discovered a little scrap of mohair in my stash.... kid mohair... soft and a little curly and long! Longer than I usually use for small little bears! Not enough for the usual size bear I make from this type of mohair!
Leo is the result...he's a greeny beigey color with a brown backing and a multicolored perle cotton nose! BTW he's less than 5 inches tall.

how about Thommy?

This is Thommy , my latest. He was made from a very raggedy German mohair and is about 10 inches tall He is wearing blue striped pants with straps.

I've also been knitting a hat for my grandson....It is a Ma Cobb hat from the "Firefly/ Serenity" tv series.
My grandchildren must have big heads because this was the adult medium size and he is only 5! I had the same problem with the hat for my grand daughter!

Happy Valentine's Day

I thought I'd use my passport photo to wish all of you a Happy Valentine's Day....

no it's not current... only about 61 years old! I was 6 when we emigrated from the UK. We came on the French liner "Liberte". The voyage took a week. Only wine was served with dinner and even watered down I didn't like it!
My Mother woke me early on the morning we sailed into the NY harbor to see the Statue of Liberty. No Ellis Island... but we had lines to go through to get into NYC. Then my first car ride ( promptly carsick...).

A 2012 Herbie

I had a bit of "Spring's" yellow with green backing mohair left... just enough for a Herbie. So here's the first 2012 Herbie !

Spring....

Not hopeful wishing for Spring, but my newest bear. I named her"Spring" because she is daffodil yellow mohair with a leafy green backing. She stands a little over 5 inches tall and is "anime style".
Spring has a black wax over perle cotton thread nose.

She is sniffing a flower made from cold paste clay!
